To begin the Pistol Permit process, you must register with the Connecticut Criminal History Request System by following the below link.

When you arrive for your scheduled appointment you must bring the following items:

a. Completed and notarized application - click here for application

b. Printout of your tracking number from your registration confirmation

c. Original and (1) copy of your NRA certificate or DESPP approved      equivalent.

d. Original and (1) copy of either your US Passport, US Birth Certificate with raised seal, or US Resident Permit – prior military needs to bring a copy of their DD-214

e.  A certified check or money order in the amount of $70.00 made out to the Town of Monroe.

f. Print and sign the attached Privacy Rights forms - click here for forms

g. Passport style photo, 1.5 inches by 1.5 inches

h. Completed questionnaire, click here for questionnaire


Public fingerprinting is scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:00–8:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00AM- 12:00 PM. Once you have obtained all the preceding information and documents, please call the department prior to your arrival to verify appointment openings and ensure a detective is available. Your appointment should last approximately 15 minutes.
