Tree Canopy
Tree growth in our community improves water quality, saves energy, lowers summer temperatures, enhances property values and much more. Matt Fulda, regional planner at the Metro Council of Governments (MetroCOG), has made available the Urban Tree Canopy Project, a study done by the University of Vermont that analyzed the benefits of tree canopies in Monroe and the five other communities in the MetroCOG region. The "story map" depicts Monroe's tree canopy, breaking it down into close-ups of streets, neighborhoods and watersheds so you can see and understand the implications of tree patterns where you live.
