Pepper Street Improvements & Multi-use trail

The Pepper Street Improvement & Multi Use Trail project has resumed with the winter season now concluded. The Town and State are working with utility companies and the project contractor to improve the progression of work.

Drainage construction activity and the replacement of the box culvert at the Jockey Hollow Road intersection is planned to start April 25th. Please be advised that the remaining work necessitates temporary traffic realignment or bypass roadways, temporary gravel surfaces, raised structures, utility patching, rough paved/patched surfaces, multiple work zones, and possible delays during traffic stoppages.

Residents are urged to use caution and to DRIVE SLOWLY in this area . Commercial traffic is asked to utilize the northern intersection of Pepper Street and Main Street/State Route 25 to access businesses on the northern end of the project. During construction, motorists may encounter multiple work zones that include single lanes and alternating traffic along the route. While the temporary impact to travel is frustrating, we thank you for your patience as work progresses.

This project is 90% funded through State and Federal grants, and is currently targeted for completion this calendar year.

Questions and/or comments may be directed to the Town Engineer, Scott H. Schatzlein at 203-452-8631.
