On May 5, 2020, Governor Lamont issued Executive Order 7II. This provides dog owners with a grace period through July 31, 2020 before a late fee is imposed for dog licenses, which are normally issued in June of each year.
Monroe dog owners that have dogs six (6) months of age and over must be licensed annually. If you have already registered your dog, you will receive a renewal postcard in the mail shortly.
The State of Connecticut requires that all dogs must have Rabies vaccinations. Therefore, when licensing a dog it will be necessary to provide a current Rabies vaccination certificate. If licensing a dog for the first time, it will be necessary to provide the spaying or neutering certificate in order to obtain the lower license fee. The fees are: $8.00 for a neutered male or spayed female, $19.00 for unaltered dogs. We would prefer that licenses be dropped off or sent through the mail. Please drop off or send a self-addressed stamped envelope with a check or money order for the proper amount and the following information, if not already on file: Rabies certificate, spay or neuter certificate, owner’s name, phone number, address, dog’s name, breed, age of dog, color markings and sex of dog.
Drop off: Monroe Police Department Lobby, 7 Fan Hill Road.
A box will be marked “DOG LICENSING” and checked every day.
Mail to: Town Clerk’s Office, Room 201, 7 Fan Hill Road, Monroe, CT 06468.
Please feel free to fax over the rabies/neuter/spay certificate to 203-452-2253 or scan to the email address listed below. A cover letter is not required when faxing.
If you have any questions or require further information please call the Town Clerk’s office Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 203-452-2811 or email us at email@example.com.
Thank you and be safe.
